Tesla owners can definitely charge their Tesla in the rain if you are using a Tesla Supercharger. They are specifically designed to work in all weather.
Tesla has added protection in both the electric vehicle and the supercharger to ensure that the charging is safe and will cut off if anything goes wrong. Which is great news considering the high voltage at play.
So, Tesla owners need not worry when visiting charging stations! Even if you have an older Tesla Model S or X.

Tesla Wall Connector (TWC)
Tesla has designed the connectors to be used for charging in outdoor situations. So, you can change your Tesla vehicle with a Wall Connector in the rain. Which is good news when you go to a destination chargers at a hotel or business.
Tesla Gen 2 Mobile Connector (Or Gen 1)
A Tesla Mobile Connector (Gen 1 or Gen 2) are not designed to be waterproof and should not be used in the rain. If it does start raining while you are using it you should ensure that water does not run down the charger cord and get near the connection.
